Human Rights Commissioner, Lorraine Finlay, Visits AAAC

The African Australian Advocacy Centre( AAAC) sincerely thanks the Human Rights Commissioner for meeting with its executive committee today. The discussion covered the significant contributions of people of African descent in Australia and the challenges they continue to face. We shared some stories from people who come to us for assistance.

It was enlightening to understand the Australian Human Rights Commission’s initiatives and the work of different commissions in promoting equality and human rights. We emphasised the importance of effectively recognising these lived experiences to address systemic barriers.

The meeting underscored the necessity of close collaboration between the AAAC and the AHRC in our mutual fight against racism. We are optimistic about this partnership’s positive impact and are eager to work together on strategies to enhance support and advocacy for African Australians.

We look forward to continuing this vital dialogue and strengthening our efforts to create a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
