AAAC Celebrated International Nelson Mandela Day

The African Australian Advocacy Centre (AAAC) thanks The Curtin University’s Centre for Australia-Africa Relations and the Centre for Human Rights Education for hosting us on Mandela Day. The successful events, which centred on the vital themes of racism, rights, and resilience, are a testament to our shared dedication to addressing these critical issues.

During the event, we were pleased to present our recent report, “We Belong Here,” and learn about Curtin University’s significant contributions, primarily through the report “Africans in Australia: A Population Overview” The report provides an in-depth analysis of the African diaspora in Australia, highlighting demographic trends, socio-economic outcomes, and migration patterns, and underscores the importance of research to inform policy and enhance community support.

The AAAC “We Belong Here” report serves as a powerful evidence base for advocacy and policy reform, offering actionable recommendations for creating a more equitable society.

We sincerely appreciate the organising team’s warm hospitality, which significantly impacted the events’ success. The AAAC eagerly anticipates strengthening our collaboration and working towards tangible outcomes that further our mutual goals.

Thank you once again for your invaluable support.
